About The wisdom of Khalil Gibran

Khalil Gibran was born in the year 1883 in modern day Lebanon. He was a Lebanese poet, artist and writer, of great repute. During his early years, his family migrated to the United States. Khalil Gibran is known for his writings, both in English and in Arabic, as well as for his paintings. His most famous book, The Prophet, gained tremendous popularity in the 60s and is regarded as his best work. Khalil Gibran’s works speak heavily of love and friendship. His words are filled with wisdom, and are equally relevant today, as they were, almost a century ago. His concepts on friendship and love, and on giving personal freedom to one another, in any relationship, are hard to implement or follow, even today, almost a century after they were written. He was truly a man much ahead of his times. He dies in the year 1931, at the age of 48. I have taken thirty of his best quotes and given them my own interpretation. These quotes talk of love, of friendship, of the joy or work, of pain and suffering, of dreams, of visions, and of self-discovery and self-mastery. His words are filled with intelligence and spiritual understanding. I am sure the reader will enjoy reading his quotes as well as my interpretations of them. To me, The Prophet is easily one of the best books I have ever read, and this book includes a few quotes from The Prophet. I have tried to capture the essence of Khalil Gibran, although that is no easy task, given that he was an intellectual and philosophical giant.
