About Twice Written

"It is Bombay of the early eighties: abundant, greasy and alive. Bombay — where geographical, cultural and historical lines intersect in multiple ways. Bombay — where the self struggles to find its being. Prahlad, Laila and Ananya, three young people caught in a triangular web of connections, meet Dorai, known as God to his friends. A writer with the exceptional ability to ‘rewrite lives’, Dorai sets himself the task of writing the stories of unrequited love, fragmented histories and possible destinies. As in a palimpsest, superimposing one register on another, Dorai sets off Prahlad, Laila and Ananya in the search for meaning and purpose to their lives. Will Dorai’s text fully determine the fate of Prahlad, Laila and Ananya or will they find some of their own resolutions? Will Dorai’s context be their text or will they write some text of their own? Cover design and artwork by Justin Ponmany. PRAISE FOR THE BOOK “Sridhar, a physicist of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, has conducted something like an open-heart surgery on the foundation of philosophical enquiry — consciousness as expressed in words with a double-edged knife of a theme.” —The Hindu “You hold in your hands, dear reader, a freshly written classic of Indian literature. Although just written, it can easily be ranked among those books whose writers you respect, or envy even.” —Deccan Herald ABOUT THE AUTHOR K. Sridhar is a Professor of Theoretical Particle Physics and has published a physics book, a book on Science Education other than many research papers in physics. He is also a writer of literary fiction and poetry though he does not publish his poetry. He dabbles in philosophy, especially of science, and writes the occasional review of visual art shows. He is fond of doing lectures on rock music. He lives with his wife and daughter in Mumbai."
